In today's world, the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve is under intense scrutiny. Recent events have raised alarm bells about police practices and their impact on citizens' rights. As I consider the path forward, I am deeply committed to protecting all citizens and redefining accountability within law enforcement. When I assume the presidency, I will advocate for martial law in cities where police officers violate citizens' rights. This is not a decision I take lightly; it reflects my strong belief that accountability and protection are essential aspects of our democracy.
With increasing incidents of police misconduct across the United States—such as the more than 1,000 documented cases of police shootings in 2022 alone—it is crucial to implement serious measures that promote transparency and justice. I believe that martial law can play a key role in ensuring citizens’ rights are respected and police are held accountable for their actions. These measures are vital for restoring trust and safety in our communities.

The Need for Martial Law
Martial law is often seen as a last resort during extreme crises. However, I propose a new definition for its use in modern America: as a necessary response to systemic issues within police departments that allow for civil rights violations. When officers escape accountability for their actions, fear and mistrust grow among citizens.
Under my administration, any city that permits police to violate rights will face martial law. This approach is not about stripping freedoms; it is about restoring them for citizens wronged by unlawful actions. Martial law will ensure oversight, making certain that police actions align with the basic rights and needs of the community.
National Police Oversight Board
To support the imposition of martial law, I will also advocate for a National Police Oversight Board. This board will be comprised of citizens, legal experts, and former law enforcement officials, providing diverse perspectives on police misconduct cases. Importantly, this body will operate independently and have real authority to enforce changes at local and state levels.
This oversight board will allow citizens to voice their concerns about police actions. By establishing a direct line of communication between the public and the board, we can build trust and collaboration. Policies must be crafted based on feedback from those most affected by law enforcement practices.

Mandatory Body Cameras
One of the most effective tools in promoting police accountability is the use of body cameras. I will push for legislation mandating that all police officers wear body cameras during their shifts. This technology is crucial, as it records interactions between law enforcement and citizens, providing clear evidence in allegations of misconduct.
In addition to requiring body cameras, I will support strict penalties for any officer who turns off their camera while on duty. This sends a strong message: transparency is fundamental in law enforcement. Studies show that police departments that implement body cameras experience a reduction in use-of-force incidents by as much as 60%. The goal is simple: recorded interactions encourage everyone to act with respect.
Body cameras benefit not only the community but also officers by protecting them against false allegations. Knowing they are being recorded can encourage civil interactions, leading to safer communities.
Building Trust and Accountability
At the heart of my campaign under the "John Washington For President" banner is the belief that all Americans deserve to feel safe and respected. Creating a culture of accountability within law enforcement is essential for rebuilding trust between police officers and the communities they serve. The strategies I propose will increase accountability and break down long-standing barriers of mistrust.
We must recognize that reforming police practices is a gradual journey, but it begins with establishing firm standards that prioritize human rights. By combining martial law where necessary, creating a national oversight body, and making body cameras mandatory, we can build a system that protects citizens while holding law enforcement responsible.
A Path Forward
When I take office as President, my administration will tackle the urgent issue of police accountability head-on. The measures I propose are not mere political slogans; they represent a commitment to ensuring all Americans can live without fear of unwarranted treatment by those charged with their safety. By enacting martial law where police misconduct occurs, establishing an oversight body, and requiring body cameras, we can create a safer future for our communities.
As we strive for a more just and equitable society, let us unite in demanding accountability and respect for human rights. Together, we can shape a nation where everyone feels safe and valued—not just in theory, but in practice. Your voice matters, and I am dedicated to making sure it is heard.
